As the cool autumn breeze arrived, the WMTCNC team embarked on the much-anticipated 2024 retreat. This year, we chose the beautiful Qiandao Lake in Hangzhou as our destination. The goal was to strengthen team cohesion while giving every member a chance to unwind and enjoy some well-deserved time off. With exciting activities including water sports, island tours, and a deep dive into the local culture, this retreat was packed with unforgettable moments. Located in Chun’an County, Hangzhou, Qiandao Lake, or Thousand Island Lake, is named for its 1,078 islands of varying shapes and sizes scattered across its vast waters. With its crystal-clear water and lush, rolling hills, Qiandao Lake is often called “the most beautiful water under heaven.” It’s not only a place of stunning natural beauty but also rich in historical and cultural significance, making it one of Zhejiang Province’s and indeed China’s premier tourist destinations. The expansive lake and numerous islands form a picturesque landscape resembling emeralds in a blue silk cloth. Choosing Qiandao Lake for our retreat allowed us to revel in nature’s embrace while enjoying a host of summer water activities.

On the first day of our retreat, we kicked off with an exhilarating kayaking competition. Although many team members were new to kayaking, everyone quickly got the hang of it after a brief training session. After exploring the natural wonders of Qiandao Lake, we also visited the Qiandao Lake Beer Museum. The museum offered an in-depth look at the local beer brewing process and its history. From selecting raw materials to revealing the brewing process, we gained a deeper appreciation for beer culture. The beer-tasting session allowed us to savor the unique flavor of Qiandao Lake beer, adding a special touch to our retreat. The refreshing beer paired with the team’s laughter created moments we’ll cherish for a long time.
