In this article, we will introduce the main types and features of milling machine fixture.
Main Types
Milling fixture is suitablefor machining flats, grooves, keyways, splines, notches and various forming surfaces on parts. According to the feeding mode, we often divide the fixture into three types, such as linear feed type, circular feed type and mold feed type.
1. Linear feed type milling fixture
We often use this kind of fixture for milling machine. According to the quality, structure and production quantities of workpiece, we ofthen design the fixture for two tyese: a single-piece multi-point, multi-parallel and multi-piece continuous clamping method.Sometimes it is necessary to use an indexing mechanism, which is to improve production efficiency.
2. Circular feed type milling fixture
Using circular feed milling method to load and unload workpieces without stopping, usually in multiple stations, on a milling machine with a rotary table.
This type of fixture is compact and easy to operate, and has a maneuvering time that overlaps with the auxiliary time. It is an efficient milling machine fixture for mass production.
3. Mold milling fixture
Using this fixture to machine various non-circular surfaces on a universa-milling machine. The role of the mold is to obtain the auxiliary motion of the workpiece to form a contouring motion. According to the main feed movement mode, can divide the mold milling machine clamp into two types: linear feed and circular feed.
Main Features
Due to the large amount of cutting and cutting force in milling, and easy to generate vibration during processing. Therefore, when designing the milling fixture, it should be note that the clamping force is sufficient and the reverse stroke is self-locking. The installation of the fixture should be accurate and reliable and the clip should have sufficient rigidity and stability, and the structure should be reasonable.
1. Directional keys
We often call the orientation key is the positioning key.  It is installed in the longitudinal groove on the bottom surface of the fixture. Using in two lines and is mounted on a straight line. The farther the distance is, the higher the guiding precision is, and the screw is fastened on the clamp.
2. Tool setting device
Used to determine the relative position of the fixture and tool. The structural form of the tool setting device depends on the shape of the machined surface.
3. Design of clip
In order to improve the stability of the fixture on the machine tool, reduce the vibration that may be caused by the intermittent cutting, the clamp must not only have sufficient rigidity and strength, but also the height and width ratio should be appropriate.
